Gabriela Hearst's Clarissa sweater and Lauren fringed cashmere wrap are two of the brand's staples. They're instantly recognizable, but what most people don't realize is that they're both hand-knitted by artisans from Manos Del Uruguay, an organization that employs talented craftspeople from rural areas of Uruguay.

In the spirit of the holiday season, Hearst celebrated the artisans' skills with an intimate lunch at Bergdorf Goodman, where two Manos del Uruguay knitters were joined by guests like AnnaSophia Robb and Linda Fargo. In line with the brands' commitment to sustainability, the meal was prepared with locally sourced ingredients and served at a table decorated with seasonal floral center pieces.

As they arrived, guests were able to stop by the Gabriela Hearst shop on Bergdorf Goodman's third floor, where the artisans from Manos Del Uruguay demonstrated their hand-made knitting process for the first time ever in the United States. To make the Lauren wrap, they gently twist the Welfat cashmere to create a particular soft yarn, creating the signature chunky-knit style.

The event was part of Bergdorf Goodman's holiday initiative, “Magic in the Making,” which aims to support and celebrate extraordinary artisanship and craft.
